Porch

Porch is a broad-spectrum insecticide formulated to provide effective control of a wide range of household and garden pests in and around residential areas. It is designed for use on exterior surfaces of buildings, including porches, patios, decks, foundations, and window frames, as well as for indoor applications in cracks and crevices. The product typically contains active ingredients from the pyrethroid family, such as permethrin, bifenthrin, or gamma-cyhalothrin, which are synthetic versions of natural pyrethrins known for their rapid knockdown of insects. Porch insecticide is formulated to kill insects on contact and may provide residual protection for an extended period, often lasting several weeks to months on treated surfaces. It is effective against a wide array of pests including ants, cockroaches, spiders, fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, earwigs, silverfish, and stink bugs, among others. The product is usually available as a ready-to-use spray with a water-based, non-staining formula that dries clear and leaves little to no odor, making it suitable for use in living areas.

How It Works
Porch insecticide works through both contact and residual action to eliminate insect pests. When sprayed directly on insects, the active ingredients—typically pyrethroids such as permethrin, bifenthrin, or gamma-cyhalothrin—target the nervous system of the pest, causing rapid paralysis and death. These ingredients are synthetic analogs of natural pyrethrins, which have long been recognized for their ability to provide quick knockdown of insects. Once the spray has dried, it leaves an invisible residue on treated surfaces such as baseboards, window frames, porch flooring, and building foundations. When insects later crawl across or land on these treated areas, they pick up the active ingredient, which continues to disrupt their nervous system function. This residual activity provides long-lasting protection against reinfestation, with some formulations offering control for up to 12 months on non-porous indoor surfaces and at least 3 months for outdoor applications. For best results, the product should be applied as a spot treatment or crack-and-crevice application, targeting areas where insects are likely to travel or hide, such as along baseboards, around doors and windows, under sinks, behind appliances, and on exterior surfaces where pests may enter the structure.
